Games for a Living, fuelling the mass adoption of blockchain games
Blockchain gaming company Games for a Living aims to be the first platform to develop high-quality video games on the blockchain. The company’s goal is to take blockchain gaming to the next level and make it more entertaining and accessible for current and future players.
The problem with blockchain games – so far
Blockchain gaming took off in 2021, driven largely by elements such as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and play-to-earn elements. NFT-based games in particular experienced a surge in popularity. However, the overall impression is that blockchain gaming still has a long way to go before it can compete with traditional video games. The quality of the offering, in particular, leaves a lot to be desired in terms of the player experience.
“Until now, the vast majority of blockchain developers building video games have focused more on tokens than on computer graphics and gameplay. At Games for a Living , we will offer triple-A quality games that focus on the gaming experience of the player,” said Manel Sort, CEO of Games for a Living.
Elemental Raiders, not your average NFT-based game
Games for a Living will launch its first official game, Elemental Raiders, in December. Elemental Raiders is an action and strategy RPG video game in which players fight each other using a wide variety of characters in turn-based combat.
The turn-based game incorporates both player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) elements. Elemental Raiders allows players to earn tokens and NFTs by playing and achieving milestones in the game. Not only that: players will be able to store their rewards in an electronic wallet, and buy, sell and exchange them as they see fit.
The game features a cast of memorable characters, stunning locations and the gameplay and mechanics expected of conventional AAA-games. “It’s a world apart from what we have seen in the market so far,” explains Sort.
More blockchain games in the pipeline
Games for a Living is also working on the second game. Diamond Dreams will be the first match-3 game to bring luxury NFTs to the blockchain. The game leverages the team’s expertise in game development and high-end 3D renders Also aims to be the entry point of casual gamers to the blockchain.
